Healing Springs Natural Area protects springs and spring-fed streams that support important populations of several fish and crayfish species of conservation concern. Of particular significance are populations of both Arkansas Darter and Least Darter, both of which are very rare in the state and require a specific habitat type that is rapidly disappearing. Upland areas are being restored to native grassland and woodland habitat.
