Hailing from the deltas of Pine Bluff, AR, Gabrielle “Vershea” Vernor was raised in the dusty backrooms of a dance studio. The sounds of bumping bass filled her senses; while trying on scratchy sequined costumes consumed her days. As she grew up, she flipped through thriller novels and watched horror movies and true crime documentaries. Her love for glitter shines through her art, along with horror, beauty, and how they work together. Her unique perspective tells stories of womanhood and the terrors that can come along with it. While not far from her delta roots, she currently resides in Little Rock, AR. She recently graduated from University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Criminology. She is also one of five recipients of the prestigious artLAUNCH award from the Windgate Foundation.
