Rules 2024
Eligibility
- The contest is open to all individuals who wish to showcase their sweet potato pie baking skills. There are no categories for entry, welcoming both amateur and professional bakers.
Judging
- Pies will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of local celebrity judges.
- Judging will be anonymous; pies will be presented without identifying the baker to ensure impartiality.
Each pie will be assessed based on the following five criteria:
- Taste - Flavor should be the primary focus, with a well-balanced sweetness.
- Presentation - Appearance matters; pies should look as good as they taste.
- Creativity - Unique takes on the traditional sweet potato pie are encouraged.
- Crust - The crust should be well-executed, complementing the original filling.
- Overall Impression - The pie as a whole will be evaluated for its overall quality and appeal.
Prizes will be awarded for the top two pies
- 1st Place
- 2nd Place
- 3rd Place
- An additional “People’s Choice” award will be given based on public voting.
People’s Choice Award
- All attendees will have the opportunity to taste the pies and vote for their favorite.
- The pie receiving the highest number of votes will earn the “People’s Choice” award.
Entry Fee
- There is no entry fee required to participate in the contest.
- In the spirit of community and giving, participants are encouraged to bring a toy for the Robert "Say” McIntosh Stop the Violence Toy Drive.
