Please help celebrate the 4th of July holiday with a special event sponsored by the Delta Cultural Center in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas on July 4, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The 4th of July, also known as Independence Day, is a federal holiday that celebrates American independence from the British Empire. Through the years it has become a way for citizens to demonstrate patriotism and pride in our nation. In addition, this date also holds a special place in Helena-West Helena history. It was on July 4, 1863, that the Battle of Helena took place, and this will mark the 161st anniversary of that event.
Cannon firing demonstrations will occur throughout the morning in normal intervals until after noon. The Helena-West Helena Fire Department will also be present and hot dogs will be served. In addition, plans call for kid's activities during the morning. Please follow us on social media for more updates.
This event is free and open to the public. It will take place directly across from the DCC Visitor Center at 141 Cherry Street in downtown Helena.
