The Arkansas Arts Council is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Arkansas Living Treasure Award. The deadline to nominate a master of traditional craft or folk arts is Jan. 10.

The Arkansas Living Treasure program annually recognizes, honors and celebrates masters of traditional crafts and traditional performing arts in Arkansas with the goal of highlighting and preserving Arkansas’s unique heritage, identity, culture and history. The goal is to preserve traditional craft and spotlight its significance to Arkansas.

The program includes a $5,000 award for the nominated craftsperson.

Since 2002, the award has recognized the lifetime achievements and contributions to heritage arts and crafts of Arkansas. Past recipients have been nominated in categories such as metalworking, woodcarving, cabin construction, weaving, knifemaking, and pottery. The program was expanded in 2021 to include traditional performing folk arts and expanded to include an award in 2024.

To nominate a creative, fill out a recommendation form online. Guidelines for nominations and the nomination form are available at arkansasarts.org. For more information, email [email protected].
