The ANHC has new faces in the Stewardship and Administration sections. In the Stewardship section, Miranda Patterson and Corey Saunders have filled the ANHC’s two vacant full-time land management specialist positions. Carlie Cowgill has started as ANHC’s new part-time administrative specialist.
Previously employed by the ANHC as a part-time land management specialist, Patterson comes to the ANHC with a background in conservation and stewardship. She previously worked at The Nature Conservancy where she was a member of the prescribed burn crew. Prior to that, she worked with the Conservation Corps and the Outdoor School in Marble, Texas.
Returning to his home state of Arkansas, Saunders has a Bachelor of Applied Science in parks and recreation administration-natural resources management from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Ark. Prior to working at the ANHC, Saunders was employed with the Mark Twain National Forest where he served as a Trails Crew member, performing restoration and maintenance work on all sections of the Ozark Trail within the national forest in Missouri. Prior to that position, he worked as a recreation technician at the Chattahoochee National Forest, as a front desk clerk at Mt. Nebo State Park, and as a seasonal park ranger with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Nimrod.
Cowgill currently attends the University of Central Arkansas in Conway where she is majoring in anthropology with a double minor in history and gender studies. She plans to graduate in December 2022 with a Bachelor of Science. Cowgill’s studies have included classes on environmental anthropology and American environmental history.
