During our Holiday Open House, our education team made these adorable Salt Dough Ornaments. You can make these at home using everyday ingredients you've probably already got in the cupboard.

Materials Needed
· 2 Cups of all-purpose flour
· 1 Cup table salt
· 1 Cup cold water

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 250°F.
2. Mix together 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 cup of salt.
3. Slowly add 1 cup of cold water, adding a few tablespoons at a time until the dough is easy to handle. Knead the dough for 10-20 minutes.
4. Roll out the dough and use cookie cutters or a glass to cut out desired shapes. You can make impressions in the dough to add handprints or pet paw prints. Be sure to cut a small round opening at the top of the ornament to loop an ornament hanger through.
5. Arrange the dough shapes on a baking sheet and bake until they are hard, about 2 hours. Cool completely.
6. Once the shapes are cool, decorate as desired with paint, glitter, or any material you want to experiment with!

Handy tip, the salt in the dough can irritate your skin. If you have plastic or latex gloves you might consider using them. Otherwise, wash your hands thoroughly and condition them with a soothing lotion.

These make great keepsakes and are a fun project to keep little ones busy during the holidays.
