Best known through their hard-hitting live performances, the Big John Miller Band delivers an electrifying mix of soul, jazz, blues, funk, and rock. The late, great, Godfather of Soul James Brown summed it up best in 2003 when, after seeing Big John perform, he told him “Boy, when you sing, you sing the white right offa you!”
John Miller was born in Little Rock, and has spent his life perfecting his vocal style. Influenced by musicians such as Al Green, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, and James, Brown, John has developed a style all his own with roots based in Blues, Soul, jazz, and R & B. He has won numerous awards, including the Arkansas Musician’s Showcase, Arkansa River Blues Society Talen Contest, and the Sonny Boy Blues Society Talent Contest. He has been voted Best Male Vocalist in the Little Rock Free Press Reader’s Poll, and the Big John Miller Band regularly is voted “Best Band” by the readers of The Arkansas Times in their “Best of Arkansas” issue. They have performed at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas, at the International Blues Challenge, and at the Crossroads Music Festival in Memphis, Tennessee.
