Alice has prepared two engaging poetry programs. One is available for young learners in Pre-K - 5th grade.  The other is for Middle School and High School Students. Program descriptions are listed here.

(1)  W.O.W. (Words of Wonder) is an interactive literacy program suited for young readers in PreK – 5th grade. Why interactive? Call and response along with music and movement are three impactful teaching tools. Each 45-minute program speaks to a different theme for each month in the year. Every presentation includes original books and poems composed by Alice Faye Duncan. Also, I present interactive songs and a poetry writing activity, which allows students to engage their creative minds and write a personal literary work of genius at the conclusion of my presentation.

(2) S.O.D.A. & C.H.I.P.S is an interactive poetry exploration. I introduce middle and high school students to a variety of figurative language techniques they can use to bring visual images and visceral emotions to their creative writing and academic essays. Each letter in the acronym represents a type of figurative language that will impact student writing. For example S is for Simile. A is for Alliteration. H is for Hyperbole. The model texts and examples will come from my award-winning poetry book, "Memphis, Martin and the Mountaintop." At the conclusion of the program, all the students will create a personal poem of creative genius using figurative language techniques explored in my presentation.
