I have drawn with silverpoint since the 1980's. I draw with a metal stylus on a prepared surface. Hatched and cross-hatched lines create values and textures. The white of the page provides contrast. All marks are premeditated, as silverpoint will not erase. I focus on the relationships between shapes, light, and shadows. I must study, and carefully examine, as I draw. This process repeats until my forms come to life. At times this process feels effortless, but often it is a struggle. Silverpoint is a slow arduous process; therefore I must take my time. My drawing is meditation.
