I have been a talented artist since birth, but it wasn't until I found myself sitting in prison on death row that I began using the God-given force that I was gifted with.

Now that I understand the many powers of art, I believe in using my artistic gift as conduit to educate others and speak truth to power. My artwork explores the appalling history of the death penalty in America and various practices of mass incarceration. I am a self-taught student of the history of capital punishment and criminal justice, in addition to living it every day for the past twenty-five years.

Every piece of artwork that I create has a story to tell, a history behind it. I aim to provoke thought and ask the onlooker profound questions through the piece’s emotion. I explore criminal justice in its distinct American character and I try to shed light on the lives and struggles of those affected.

Due to the fact that I am a death row prisoner and locked in solitary confinement, I have very limited access to art materials. As a result, the few materials used in my work are carefully calculated, prompting me to oftentimes look for different avenues to create the unexpected and the profound for the viewers and art lovers around the world.
