My artwork begins with personal images that are from my experiences throughout my life. Some of my images are spiritually eclectic, relating to my belief system. In my work I enjoy and explore the inter-play of reality and dreamlike sequences. I like the mixture of transparency and opacity. Surrealist artists wanted their work to be a link between abstract spiritual realities and real forms of the material world. I love to create archetypes, the “myths” are very clear to me, in my automatic drawings/paintings during the initial stages. But then I take the time to selectively edit the images to clarify the overall composition. I do believe the “myths” I experience are not all together personal to me. I believe many individuals can find a relationship to the images. I am an artist that repeats iconic shapes that carry a deeper meaning for me. I also love the strong graphic line created from cut shapes against loose carefree mark-making. My paintings and drawings merge nature in dream-like illusions and my photography documents the remnants to what humans leave behind. My color palette has evolved over my lifetime of creating artwork. I swing from black & white, sepia tone, monochromatic blue, to pops of yellow, green, and a range of reds. The meaning of the work is directly connected to the surface and media I chose to use to relate my meaning.

The selection of work I prepared for the artist registry is my most recent body of work. I am never far from my camera to capture images and moments in time relating to light and life. I document my illusions on Instagram- schultz_life

As an art educator it is key to model what you expect from the young artists I strive to inspire.
