I have painted my entire life and have benefited from an eclectic art education. It began as a child when my maternal grandfather gave me informal lessons at the kitchen table and took me to the Art Institute Museum in Chicago. Throughout school and college, I continued this education with private lessons and a score of college classes, but a vast amount of it has come from time alone in the studio or out in the world. Influences on my work are hard to indentify in full. At various times, I have studied many artists and movements. I have a special fondness for the Surrealists and German Expressionists of the last century.
