I love to treasure hunt at flea markets. In one day, I may scan thousands of items. But, only certain ones will be purchased and added to my collection. These items have a personal memory and act as a kind of bookmark in the story of my life. For me it is not the item that carries the value but the memories tied to it. The fast pace overload of our society constantly pushes us to look forward and affords no time to look back. I want my paintings to encourage the viewer to linger, savor, and remember.
There are few moments to paint when you are blessed to be a mom, wife and teacher! I use acrylic paints because of the quick dry time. And, I keep the composition simple often using a single object in an almost portrait style. Typically most painting sessions get cut short, so I’ve learned to paint fast making each brush stroke count and not fussing with a lot of tiny details. The result produces paintings that are fresh and spontaneous and approachable by most all.
